Publication standards

Our editorial promise

Independent editorial judgement, responsible evidence and useful explanations for gymnastics families.

Independent, evidence-led and child-centred

KGM is published by Kensington & Chelsea Gymnastics Academy, with editorial judgement protected from commercial influence. Each issue translates peer-reviewed science for families, contributes original London knowledge where the method supports it and preserves a dated record of the sport.

Recurring educational series build a growing body of work across children’s development, anatomy, nutrition, recovery, lifelong movement, London and the wider gymnastics world.

Children and families first

Children’s safety, development, enjoyment, opportunity and understanding come first. Every major article should give families a useful explanation, insight or decision aid.

Evidence made clear

We distinguish established evidence from emerging evidence, KGM original findings, professional interpretation, editorial position and historical record. Uncertainty is explained rather than hidden.

Gymnastics-specific knowledge

We look beyond visible skills to explain bodies, learning, coaching, culture, participation and lifelong movement in ways that add genuine value to gymnastics families.

London as lived reality

London appears through real family circumstances—travel, time, cost, access, venue types and cultural diversity—not through decorative place names.

Original KGM research

Building a clearer record of gymnastics in London

Research is published only when its method, scope and limitations are ready to be examined.

Published London audit

Gymnastics in London

KGM’s first London-wide public-source audit documented 188 verified children’s gymnastics delivery venues and 120 providers across Greater London, with its method, date and evidence boundaries made visible.

State of Gymnastics in London

The planned baseline will document publicly identifiable and publicly advertised provision through transparent definitions, source records, verification dates and clearly stated limitations.

The work will not treat provider counts as participation or capacity, and it will not release conclusions before the evidence reaches KGM’s publication standard.
