SOFIA’S GYMNASTICS JOURNEY
From newcomer to KCGA’s first children’s medalist
Sofia joined Kensington & Chelsea Gymnastics Academy in October 2024, shortly after her family moved to London. Training at our St Philip’s Church location in Kensington, she quickly stood out for her motivation, consistency, and love for gymnastics.
Only one year later, Sofia made KCGA history.
Making KCGA History
At the High 10 Invitational Competition on October 5th, 2025, she became the first KCGA gymnast to win a medal in the children’s category, earning a silver medal on Floor. This remarkable achievement marked a milestone not only for Sofia, but for the academy as a whole. In addition to her competition success, Sofia was also named Gymnast of the Term during our Annual Performance in 2025, a proud moment recognising her effort, consistency, and team spirit.
Support, Motivation & Growth
Behind Sofia’s success is her strong internal drive, and the care of our coaching team. Her family credits the guidance of coaches Silvia and Venia, and the personal support from coach Stefan, for helping her thrive in training.
“Sofia is very motivated to do well in this sport, and what has helped her a lot has been the support of the trainers… She truly loves receiving the stickers at the end of each class!” — Cristina, Sofia’s mum
Since joining KCGA, Sofia’s parents have noticed profound growth. “She has become much more flexible, disciplined and self-confident,” her mum shares. And just as importantly, gymnastics has helped her settle into her new life in London, making friends and feeling part of a caring community.
Sofia especially enjoys the structure of training with clear goals, and of course, she never misses a chance to collect her reward stickers at the end of class.
