International guest journey · India to London

Akshainie’s gymnastics journey

During one focused week in London, Akshainie combined private technical coaching, group classes and two KCGA performances—connecting precise preparation with an experience she found supportive, purposeful and fun.

One week, several connected experiences

Akshainie travelled from India to London in summer 2025. Aged ten during this story, she arrived with existing competitive experience and a clear purpose: to refine her technique and prepare for her upcoming Calypso Competition.

Her week combined one-to-one sessions with Dr Stefan Kolimechkov, KCGA group classes and performance opportunities in both Kensington and Knightsbridge.

Private technical coaching

Precision connected to purpose

The private sessions focused on the way Akshainie performed each element, not simply whether she could complete it. Feedback connected body position, alignment and control with the routines she was preparing for competition.

Conditioning remained part of the programme, but games helped demanding work feel more enjoyable and kept energy high during an intensive week.

Her own summary captured the balance: detailed technical attention, preparation specific to her goals, and training that still felt fun.

Akshainie’s perspective

Training designed around her goals

As an experienced young gymnast, Akshainie could identify what felt different about the week. She valued the close attention to how each skill was performed and the direct connection with her upcoming competition.

That individual focus did not make the sessions feel clinical. Playful conditioning gave technical work a positive rhythm.

I enjoyed how Stefan focused on perfecting my technique to do each element. He trained me specifically for my upcoming Calypso Competition and even made conditioning fun by turning it into games.— Akshainie
Body awareness

Small adjustments with lasting value

Sessions included close attention to details such as the rotation of the feet and toes in split positions. These adjustments helped Akshainie understand how alignment can influence the quality and control of a shape.

Two performances, one welcoming community

Alongside private and group training, Akshainie participated in KCGA’s 2025 Annual Performances in Kensington and Knightsbridge. The events gave her a chance to share her gymnastics within a new club environment.

Her family valued a format that celebrated preparation and personal progress while allowing every gymnast to participate.

The club performances were well-organised, friendly and inclusive. They helped children learn to compete with themselves and improve—rather than compete in an unhealthy way against others.— Akshainie’s family
A developing international pathway

Achievements from India to London

Akshainie arrived with competitive experience already behind her. Her KCGA week supplemented that pathway with focused preparation, new feedback and performance practice.

The value of a focused visit

What one well-planned week could add

Akshainie’s visit connected several forms of learning: individual correction, purposeful conditioning, group participation and the experience of performing in a new environment.

TechniqueDetailed feedback on how skills were performed
PreparationWork related to her competition goals
ConfidenceParticipating across unfamiliar settings
EnjoymentConditioning and training made engaging

Focused, not rushed

A short visit can provide concentrated feedback and memorable experiences, but it does not replace the consistent training that builds gymnastics over time.

The lasting value was not a promise of instant transformation. It was a set of technical details, experiences and positive memories that Akshainie could carry into her continuing training at home.

What made the week effective

Three connected ingredients

The programme worked as a whole because the private, group and performance elements each served a different purpose.

01

Individual focus

One-to-one coaching made room for detailed corrections related to Akshainie’s own skills and goals.

02

Purposeful variety

Private sessions, conditioning, group classes and performance offered several ways to learn within the week.

03

A positive environment

Games, friendly events and an inclusive atmosphere helped intensive work remain enjoyable.

Every gymnast’s path is individual. Akshainie’s story describes one experienced guest gymnast’s visit and does not promise the same progress, competition result or outcome for another child. The suitable content and intensity of private coaching depend on the individual gymnast.
